This was something I thought of even before I saw the movie, considering I have Asperger's myself, when I saw the movie I saw a lot of myself in Flint, A LOT of myself.
If you don't what Asperger's is, it's basicly a form of Autism, but wiki can sometimes be helpful here: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Asperger_syndrome
Anyway, I have made an entire list of how Flint could have it:
(It contains some spoilers, but if you're on this forum, I guess it means you've seen the movie )
---Talking(saying what I'm doing)Singing(his own theme music) to himself
---Sam-"You seriously spend a lot of time alone" Flint-*Awkward chukling"
---Steve(and the Ratbirds, to an extent) are his only friends, before meeting Sam
---Above average IQ, also using advanced vocabulary and talking very fast
---Passionate interest in science and inventing, almost all he ever talks and thinks about
---Wears his lab coat wherever he goes, and how dissapointed he gets when he loses it
---Has never even been in a snowball fight before, and his awkwardness and enthusasim(sp?) when he does get in one...
---Sometimes has awkward social moments, like when he tried to kiss Sam several times,
or when she talked about her experience as a nerd(there's MANY more, just too many to list...)
---Can see the goodness in people and things that not that many people can,
like Sam, the Mayor, or his dreams of "creating something awesome" And how he is naturaly very nice almost all the time(he's rarely angry and never mean, and when he is mean, he dosen't mean to do it)
---Sometimes has awkward walk or run (Seen multiple times throughout movie)
---Does not understand fishing metaphors, also "How are you going to top this?-Maybe with hot fudge?" and his awkward laughter afterwards...(many more examples...)
---Many very strange facial expressions...and his expressions being either "all or none" and never "in the middle" and how quickly he goes from "all to none" or vice versa. The dinner scene with his dad is a good example(AREN'T YOU PROUD OF ME!?!?)
---Does not look people in the eye most of the time when he's talking(The "can you look me in the eye and tell me..." scene is a GREAT example)
---How, in his mind, he seems to "age backwards" How he acts more like an adult as a kid and more like a kid as an adult.
---How he always must tell the truth("Can you keep a secret? NO. But this time, yes.)
---How he can remember little details, even they may be just briefly mentioned(like how he remembered that Sam liked jello, even though it was a little detail, and is never mentioned again untill the jello dome scene)
NOW do you think he has it?
One of my friends on FanFiction.net, yensid365, wrote a fanfic with Flint having Asperger's for real, but just recently, she deleted it(along with all her other fanficts )
It was VERY good.
Anyway, what do you think about Flint having Asperger's?
