i must confess i don't see flint having a sister ... THOUGH if the family just some kind of broke apart after fran's departing and that sister just ran off and Tim not having pictures of her on the wall because it is so painful and instead hiding them in the nightstand, and flint hides them in the lab, and each of them secretly staring at them when they're alone and sad and then she returns because of ... SOMETHING ... and everything goes haywire but somehow turns out to be good in the end and they become a happy little family once again even though it is still hard at times and WHAT AM I DOING STOP.
but i still adore the idea of sam having a sister. she wouldn't even have to be long lost, because the family of sam was never introduced, so basically anything can happen. i still love your fanfic idea/headcanon dear waffle!
and dragons. why not i mean, there's foodimals, so there can be dragons too. maybe food dragons? OR the lockwood's ancestors actually include hiccup and CO. (httyd) and that LONG LOST SISTER is the only one who knew next to her mother and she comes back RIDING A DRAGON AND CHAOS ENSUES BECAUSE HOLY CRAB BALL A DRAGON.
what am i doing with my life~. -.-

Gosh, I hope not! Perhaps they'll show up in the 3rd film... though it'd be nice if they weren't the stereotypical "Perfect" family that abused Sam/threw her out for not filling her "role"...

OKAY
guys
I just came up with a head canon (or at least what I imagined Sam's family would be like)
Before Sam and her older sister was conceived her mother worked at a very strict modeling agency as an etiquette instructor for girls (Someone who teaches you manners basically) Because of models who tend to throw some attitude her way on occasions she has learned how to rule with a heavy hand and had a very strict nature to her. She also had a very high expectations of what a woman should be and enforced it on to Sam and her sister. Sam's father is a very lovable, free spirited being and doesn't have a single mean streak inside of him. But because of his soft heart he's kind of a push over as well and allows his wife to walk all over him and enforce beliefs on to his daughters that he himself is against. Sam inherited her father's patience and tender nature and stuck through with her mother, constantly telling herself that as soon as she's done with high school she'll be her own woman and can continue on with her life the way she wants.
Her sister on the other hand... (I'm calling her Sonja just because)
Sonja inherited her mother's stubborn and hardheadedness and refuse to do what her mother tells her. She got her dad's free spirited nature which lead her to rebel against not only her mother's authority, but against the media as well. She bumped heads with her mom a lot and this resulted in to years of constant fighting. Sonja and Sam were quite popular in school (mainly because of Sonja's 'party girl' reputation) and while Sam did drink often and started smoking at one point (only to give it up after her mother started growing suspicious) she didn't disobey her mother's rules and always managed to not over step her boundaries. But Sonja always went crazy and made sure her mother always finds out exactly what she's up to during parties (may it be rumors, a call from another mom or even a couple of leaked photos) just because she knew it would spite her mother.
Sonja hates both her mother and father. She calls her dad spineless and a coward because he never stands up against his wife and never once stopped her from forcing her beliefs on to them. Sam on the other hand is disappointed at her dad, but at the same time completely understands why he never did anything. She herself knew how her mother could be. Their father does feel guilty for not standing up for his girls and constantly spoil them with gifts to clear his conscious.
Sam and Sonja were extremely close (especially because of all the empathy they had for each other) but sadly Sam had to move to another state after school so that she could enroll at collage which left Sonja alone to deal with her own mommy issues. Sonja continued to live with her mother until she kicked her out, saying that if she wasn't planning on doing something with her life then she's not welcome under her roof anymore. Her father manage to fund her a couple of months with out her mother knowing, but he also eventually came to the conclusion that if he'd continue she'd never learn to be independent. Sonja later found 'different ways' to keep her fed and lived a life of constant partying and crashing on stranger's couches. She also lost complete contact with Sam, but years after finally managed to track her down due to her new job as weather girl and her face being shown often in news papers and magazines because of what happened with the FLDSMFR
Their father find Flint very eccentric and has grown rather fond of him during their first interaction. Her mother, though not entirely crazy about him, does approve that Flint has a professional career and by this time she had learned that anything is better than nothing. Sonja disliked Flint in the beginning because she thought he was the one who changed Sam (When Sam just actually decided it was time to grow up and put her teenaged past behind her) but after a while she started opening up about her issues with her mom and warmed up to Flint seeing as he did relate to what she went through. They now share a kid brother type of relationship with occasional bickering and insults (mainly from Sonja's side) but they accepted each other and get a long pretty great when their fighting doesn't drive Sam up the wall on occasion
And that's all I got. Would anyone like to add something?

Thanks xD Took some time to come up with that. Not movie perfect, but I guess good enough for a head canon. Though if there ever will be a third movie it better prove me wrong. I really wanna see what her family's like now that everyone's talking about it ;A;

Why thank you ;A;
Though if there' one thing I would change, it'll be their mother's profession. Like instead of working at a modeling agency perhaps she worked at a private all girls school as headmaster of the girls dorm/hostel. They even have a built on apartment (My friend's dad is the headmaster the hostel of the all boys school and they sorta have to live in a reserved area inside the dorm because of it, so it's a possibility) And from personal experience a large building full of teenaged girls is always asking for trouble xD This also gives Sonja and Sam ample opportunities to help their friends sneak out at night and hit the town with out their mother knowing. Oooh and even though their dad is always fully aware of what they do he remains quiet and acts like he doesn't notice anything giving them the opportunity to act like actual teenagers and to take a break from their mother's drama.

oh my, YES, and her mother is just so obsessed with her profession, and all those methods of how to raise girls properly that she oversees the fact that every girl needs to be treated individually, and she is just very strict and bull-headed and passionate? once again, i love it!

I don't know if this has been gone over in this thread, but I think, not only should Flint and Sam have children, well, at least one, but what if the third riffed off the third book in the original series... I think it'd be fun to see them go into space, at least for a small part of the movie.

I wanna see the whole building and developing process of Sparkswood
I also wanna see Flint and Sam's relationship blossom more. They had so little romantic interaction in the 2nd movie I almost forgot they were a thing. Almost that is. Like I wanna see small stuff, the entire movie doesn't have to be about their relationship, but like hand holding and even pet names would be great. Even if it's just stuff happening in the background I just WANT MORE
also more watermelaphants

mweep mweep so even though I'm SUPPOSED to be working on original art for the table I began drawing and hatching ideas for Cloudy 3. like... picture this... Sparkswood is more developed and they've been doing missions and science-related stuff, and they get a call from the United Nations or s/t. it turns out that cell phone signals and etc have been shutting down globally and they believe that it's space debris created by the when it was in the atmosphere, so they want Flint and the gang to go clean it up. oh, and they have a kid, he's maybe about 4, named Nicky after NIkola Tesla. the reason that these signals have been blocked is because there are space foodimals! (based on astronaut food). and they live in the atmosphere because they're too scared to find a planet to inhabit. that's about all I have so far but I'll upload all the sketches once I feel like there's enough.
